    Questions

    What is the T1135?

The T1135 is the Foreign Income Verification Statement. A Canadian resident files it when the cost of their specified foreign property was over $100,000 at any time in the year.

When can I use Part A?

Use Part A when the total cost was over $100,000 and under $250,000 at all times in the year. At $250,000 or more at any time, you must use Part B.

Is the limit the cost or the market value?

It is the cost amount. This is generally what you paid for the property. It is not the market value.

    Can I file on paper?

Yes. Attach the form to your paper return, or mail it to the Winnipeg Taxation Centre. The page shows the address. You can also use CRA-certified software to file online.

    When is it due?

It is due on the same day as your income tax return. A partnership files on the day of its partnership information return. The tool shows the day.

    Is my information uploaded?

No. The PDF is made on your device. A profile you save keeps your name and address, and your social insurance number only if you choose that. Read the privacy page.
